Douglass Appel ’08 –I am finishing my 3rd year of podiatric medical school at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Being an A & S major at Lafayette College has allowed me to better understand and communicate with the diverse patient population that I see at the clinic and hospital daily. Often I remember back to my Medical Anthropology class when discussing treatment options with patients of different cultural backgrounds. I also think of the Organizations in Action, with Professor Shulman, as I walk the halls of the hospital. I often find myself looking back on the many great discussions and great professors at Lafayette that have impacted my life. Thank you very much and I wish you all the best.
Rachel Scarpato ’08 – After learning so much about educational inequality in my A&S classes, I joined Teach For America to do something about it.  In August 2008, just three months after graduating from Lafayette, I began teaching fourth grade in Jacksonville, FL.  After two amazing and challenging years in the classroom, I am back in school pursuing my master’s degree in education policy and management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  In the future, I hope to be a school leader.
Shannon Fisher ’07 – Since graduation, I have been coaching college volleyball.  I am in my second season at East Stroudsburg University and looking forward to next season with the team as well.  I am working on my master’s of science in sports management at ESU.  I will hopefully graduate in December.  I am engaged to Keith Bloom ’07 and our wedding date is set for June 25, 2011.  We are both very excited and nervous about wedding plans.
Emma-Anne Millard ’98 – After graduation I went on to get my master’s in educational leadership at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa.  I now work as a campus recruiting manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Florham Park, N.J.  I spend a large amount of my time on college campuses identifying and recruiting top students to work for our firm.  I am more than happy to work with Lafayette students to help advise them on their career search.
Vanessa Youngs ’07 – Since graduation I have been working as a budget analyst for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB).  It’s a great experience to oversee the budgets of some of the city’s agencies, attend city council hearings, and work on special projects like the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission’s last Medallion Auction.  I am also pursuing my master’s degree in public policy and nonprofit management at Milano The New School for Social Policy as a Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship recipient.
