Curating Culture: The ExhibitÂ
This exhibit presents an exploration of the relationship between culture and cognition.
Cognitive processes (such as classification, perception, attention, memory, and time reckoning) structure interpretation and experience, and thus play an essential role in the creation and perpetuation of culture.
Sociology students were asked to make these invisible processes visible by documenting how they are evidenced in everyday objects, artifacts, and practices.
The objects and artifacts in this exhibit represent the results of this effort.
