Please join us for a discussion of Rebecca Kissane and Sarah Winslow’s new book, Whose Game? Gender and Power in Fantasy Sports (Temple University Press, 2020) on October 23rd from 3-4 pm EDT. Rachel Allison (Mississippi State University) and Mikaela Dufur (Brigham Young University) will share their reflections on the book, which explores how gender (and race and class) shape the hobby and frame participants’ experiences with it. Caroline Lee (Lafayette College) will moderate the discussion and a question and answer session on the book.
Rachel Allison is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Mississippi State University and author of Kicking Center: Gender and the Selling of Women’s Professional Soccer (Rutgers University Press, 2018). Her research focuses on gender and intersectionality across societal institutions characterized by women’s increased representation, including education, medicine, and sport.
Mikaela Dufur is an Associate Dean for Development, College of Family, Home, and Social Science and Professor of Sociology at Brigham Young University. Her research focuses on race and gender in sports and the social resources available to children and adolescents. She is author of over 40 journal articles and book chapters.
