Students Present Research at Eastern Sociological Society Meeting

This year, the A&S Department had a great student showing at the Eastern Sociological Society’s 81st Annual Meeting in Philadelphia on February 25th-27th. On a regular session panel on “Religion and National Identity,” Prof. Rebecca Kissane’s thesis student Julie Pollack ’11 presented her research paper: “Being Jewish: A Cross-Cultural Case Study of Two Jewish Communities.” At the undergraduate poster sessions, Zachary Romano ’10 presented his thesis research with Prof. Kissane on “Voluntary Commitments and Reactivity? Sustainability Officers on College Campuses and Performance Pressures in Higher Education,” while Prof. Lee’s thesis student Sarah Shaffer ’11 presented her AMS research on “Taking the ‘Girl’ Out of the Advice: A Comparative Study of Gendered Business Self-Help Books.”
